Court & Public Records Research
County, statewide and federal criminal court records searched at the source, for consumer reporting agencies, including background screening and tenant screening companies, and anyone who needs public record retrieval.
Search Types
Real-time searches at the county court for felony and misdemeanor records, run through the jurisdiction’s predominantly used index.
Generally run through the state’s office of court administration, supplemented by state police or state Department of Justice sources where court access isn’t unified. Not every state offers one.
Federal district court records for crimes prosecuted under federal law, such as fraud, trafficking, and federal firearms or tax offenses. These cases don’t appear in county or statewide criminal searches.
Look-back and scope are set by your needs.
The Report
Each search generally reports the following from the court record.
Court-Sourced Results
Aggregated and private databases are never used to complete these searches. Our researchers apply your look-back period, exclude non-convictions when your reporting rules call for it, and resolve inconsistencies in the record. Every result is reviewed for accuracy and readability before it comes back to you. Our team brings over two decades of experience in the screening industry.
Court structures vary. Some counties have one court handling both felonies and misdemeanors, while others split them between lower and upper courts. Knowing where records actually sit is what it takes to deliver a complete county criminal search, and it’s knowledge our researchers bring to every search.
Yes. We work with dedicated partners who specialize in extracting public record data, and we’ve built some tools of our own. We use that technology as a starting point, never the final word. Our researchers then verify and complete every search by hand, so each result is quality-checked, up to date and cleanly formatted before it reaches you.
We provide nationwide coverage, whether through direct engagement with the courts, our own researchers on the ground, or trusted affiliate partners. Florida is where we excel most, with in-house automation and tools that support high volumes while meeting client expectations for accuracy, completeness and speed. We also have a strong presence in Georgia, Nevada and Ohio, and we provide exceptional coverage in Arkansas and Montana.
Yes. Sources, access and what’s included differ from state to state, and some states don’t offer a statewide criminal search at all.
PACER, the federal courts’ records system, doesn’t show dates of birth, which makes records harder to match, especially with common names. Our researchers know how to dig deeper and locate identifiers, even when they appear to be missing.
